Ingredients

SNACK MIX

  • 12 oz Crispix cereal
  • 12.4 oz Cheez-It crackers
  • 12 oz pretzels
  • 8 oz garlic rye chips
  • 6.6 oz Goldfish crackers

SEASONED BUTTER

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tsp Lawry's Seasoned Salt
  • 3 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven or smoker to 250°F, setting up for indirect heat if using a smoker. Add the Crispix cereal, Cheez-It crackers, pretzels, garlic rye chips, and Goldfish crackers to a large mixing bowl and gently toss to combine.
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Add the Worcestershire sauce, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, garlic powder, and hot sauce, then whisk until the seasonings are evenly incorporated into the melted butter.
  • Slowly pour the seasoned butter mixture over the dry ingredients while gently tossing everything together. Continue mixing until the cereal, crackers, pretzels, and rye chips are evenly coated, making sure the butter mixture doesn't collect at the bottom of the bowl.
  • Spread the Chex Mix evenly across a large baking sheet, roasting pan, or disposable foil pan. Place it in the oven or smoker and cook at 250°F for 1–1 1/2 hours, stirring thoroughly every 20 minutes so the mixture cooks and crisps evenly.
  • Continue cooking until the Chex Mix is dry, toasted, and crispy, keeping an eye on the smaller crackers toward the end to prevent them from overcooking. Remove the pan from the oven or smoker and give everything one final stir.
  • Let the Homemade Chex Mix cool for at least 15 minutes before serving, allowing it to become even crispier as it cools. Serve immediately or store completely cooled leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh and crunchy.
