Ingredients

BACON JAM

  • 1/2 lb bacon diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced
  • 2 –3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • BURGERS
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • Salt pepper, and garlic powder, to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheese of choice
  • TOPPINGS
  • Mayo
  • Any burger toppings your prefer

Instructions

  • Place the diced bacon into a skillet over medium heat and cook until crispy, stirring occasionally for even browning. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving 1-2 tbsp of the rendered bacon fat in the pan.
  • Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté in the bacon fat for 5–7 minutes until soft and lightly caramelized. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the cooked bacon back into the skillet along with the hot sauce, brown sugar, maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens into a sticky jam consistency.
  • While the bacon jam cooks, form the ground beef into burger patties and season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook the burgers on a hot grill or skillet for 3–4 minutes per side until your preferred doneness is reached.
  • During the final minute of cooking, place cheese on top of each burger patty and allow it to melt completely. Toast the burger buns lightly for added texture and flavor.
  • Assemble the burgers with mayo, the cheesy burger patties, and a generous spoonful of warm bacon jam. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy every sticky, savory bite.
